Northern Colombia Birding & Cultural Tour

Specialties of the Caribbean Coast, Santa Marta Mountains, and the Guajira Peninsula

Northern Colombia offers up a tremendous diversity of habitats, birds, and cultural experiences within a compact area that is easy to explore. National parks, ecolodges, and otherwise-notable habitats in the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, along the Caribbean coast, and in the tropical dry forest of La Guajira provide incredibly rich birding opportunities for beginner and advanced birders alike. We’ve designed this special tour for birders who not only want to explore Colombia’s birds, but also experience the rich culture and traditions of the country. This makes it an ideal tour for both birders and spouses of birders, too, as it is a wonderful blend of both birding and culture.

Northern Colombia is famed for its high level of endemic bird species. We will explore a variety of different habitats including high elevation montane rain forest, tropical dry forest, wetlands, mangroves and beaches. You can not only expect to see 250-300 different bird species on this tour, but also experience the food, music, dance, language, history, culture, and traditions of the Colombian people!
